Once a person begins to believe in God, within him takes place an understanding, which says to him: There is only one truth. This truth is God and can only be God. This knowledge is so basic that it cannot be done away also by the most skilful Watchtower formulations. This basic assumption is the principle of faith and knowledge. Who classifies God as somebody who is not the only truth speaks of any being, but not of God.
Jesus confronts us now and smashes us quite simply and without frills the proposition on the table: I am the truth! How should people of faith come under those circumstances to the idea that he was not God? He is asserting that he is the truth. The truth itself.
Each one who is looking for an excuse out of this clear situation to install a replacement to God (such as Jehovah), will get absolute difficulty by the clear statement of Jesus. For anything or anyone can be the truth except God Himself. The patience is amazing with which the Watchtower Society regards this issue. The Watchtower Society seems to be safe, that it has the Jehovah's Witnesses in a firm grip so that it can also bend the truth and play it down.
So they bring to their congresses the issue as if they had received new light.
