Who Jesus only uses as a quasi-telephone and intends to pray to God through Him, as one makes a phone call, for example, in the name and on behalf of a company, is thinking too simple. Jesus is not a technical component of worship, but He is the goal of worship. This objective of worship is consistent with the worship of the Father, who accepts no prayer, unless it is addressed in and through Jesus Christ.
For making this clear for us, Jesus assumes that worship is only possible in spirit and in truth. And as the pinnacle of knowledge and clarity he brings to the sentence, which may only allow God Himself: "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life." With this assertion, he defies all human imagination and focused all worship, so every tribute to God - on Himself! How logical does it seem that Jesus had to appear as blasphemous in the eyes of the Jews of His time? How clear is it shown to us that Jesus must fail because of our lack of faith?
Our little faith balances things that seem plausible, and those that cry out against us that they cannot be truely possibly. In the latter category belongs the salvation through Jesus Christ. It is so unlikely and far too generous in our eyes that God in Jesus condescends to us to carry out His own justice, by sacrificing Himself for us. It is a far too big and unnatural gift. It is so great and fantastic that we are automatically forced to the conclusion: That cannot be reasonable.
If we have gotten an offer that requires a high price, and next to an offer that is free, then we can at least and have to examine the conditions to satisfy us in details about who offers what and what is the point of this offering. Jesus offers us life for free. The Watchtower Society promises us life through thousands of hours of work and many thousands of euro donation. The offer of the Watchtower Society seems plausible and acceptable to reasonable citizens. The offer of Jesus seems so unlikely that it is rather impossible in the eyes of a modern human.
The Jehovah's Witnesses worship Jehovah. This name was invented by people and is one of the most unlikely vocalizations of the tetragrammaton in the Bible. This vocalization is definitely the most devious one, because the vowels of the word adonai were backward integrated into the Tetragrammaton. This reversal of the vowels of the word adonai had to make it impossible to see them as a part of the name. The whole action served only to hinder the reader in mind, to pronounce the Tetragrammaton - however.
The name Jesus has been given by the Holy Spirit. Maria has received the explicit and in the Bible documented command to call this the promised son, Jesus. There are no gray areas and no uncertainty factors! The name Jesus was given ice cold and crystal clear by the Spirit of God, who created the Son in Mary. The order was given to Mary, to call this man Jesus, whom she should give birth.
This clear quality characteristic of the name of Jesus alone, of which is even claimed in the Bible, it is the only name in which we have to be saved, catapults the alternative of worship in absolute nirvana of endless nothingness. The name Jehovah as a purely human creation out of the Tetragrammaton and the vowels of the word adonai is in contrast to the biblical name of Jesus without any real root, and without the expressed will of God. The name Jehovah is so wicked, and can only function as a displacement of the name Jesus.
How could it happen that generations to generations of intelligent Bible scholars could pass and overlook the simple truth that Jesus is the truth and worship can take place only in Him? There is only one possible explanation:
Charles Taze Russell has tried to understand the Bible with the human brain. He assumed that only the study of the Bible makes God deducible. He pinned his hopes on his own mind. This the Watchtower Society propagates until today and says to the Jehovah's Witnesses, that they have to grow intellectually. But the Bible speaks a very different language. It speaks of sacred growth and moves as a "total art work" always on the fringes of human understanding.
The fact is that without the Holy Spirit, the Bible at least will remain closed for us as the thought of God. Only when we have expressed the belief 'yes' to Jesus, we shall know what the Bible tells us, really. This means we do not need any special techniques of Bible reading, but we have a word from the lips of Jesus open up ranges, those of the normal-carnal man can never see.
Through the use of human studies and decision-making techniques, the Watchtower Society tries to make the Bible for us "available and useful". It fails every day in this plan. They ignore that God has decided that we obtain by faith in this Jesus Christ salvation and truth. They ignore that only the Spirit and the Truth in the person of Christ can lead us up to what has seen no human being ever before.
The power and the grace of God are so large that they transcend all human imagination. We never allow ourselves to indulge the delusion that we could understand the Bible out of our own intelligence. We must never think we could understand God's secrets by analyzing his word. For the will of God is that salvation is given only to those who bind themselves as children in Jesus and say: Lord, dost thou!
When this happens, that we turn in faith in Jesus Christ to God, then we pray at him in spirit and truth. We say, "Lord Jesus" and God hears us. We worship the lamb and the one who sits on the throne (Revelation 5, 13/14) and learn of His goodness in abundance and wholeness and perfection. This perfection is given to us and will protect us once about to disappear in the presence of God in our sins too.
Oh Lord, pour out streams of living water, O Lord, over us!
